Natural Health Cures

Long before there were drug stores on every corner and urgent care centers within short distance of your home, people successfully treated their health problems with natural cures that had been passed down from great grandmothers to grandmothers to mothers and finally to them. Much of the lore of natural health cures for health problems has been lost unfortunately, but much of it will be familiar to you and is probably something you will want to try the next time a health problem arises. Just for the sake of curiosity and for the kick of trying something old and fun instead of popping another pill, try one of the following natural health cures the next time you have a health issue.

Got a headache? Try these natural health cures:

Raw almonds contain the same pain-relieving ingredient as aspirin. The magic number to be eaten is fifteen, and although this natural health cure may take a little longer to take effect, it does not have the potentially harmful side effect. Lemon rinds or a vinegar-soaked handkerchief applied to the forehead for thirty minutes are other natural cures for a headache. Inhaling lavender oil can also help with a headache.

Natural health cures for arthritis:

For at least one person I know, severe arthritis was virtually eliminated (or, at least the need for prescription medications was) by drinking four ounces of black cherry juice every morning. When traveling, a handful of black cherries (almost always available on the road) will do. Now that's a natural health cure!

Natural health cures for asthma:

My mother told me that her mother used to bring cut up, unpeeled potatoes to a boil and make her inhale the steam when she would have an asthma attack. Apparently this was an effective natural health cure, but in later years my mother skipped the potato part and just breathed in the steam. It worked just as well as a natural cure.

Turnip juice as a natural health cure for underarm odor:

Turnips were a stock item in my grandmother's kitchen. They went into stews and soups and even into the bathroom. My grandmother never used underarm deodorant.

Natural health cures for muscle soreness:

Had a strenuous walk or run? Swallow a tablespoon of vinegar to prevent stiffness or soreness. Leg cramps often resulting from diminished potassium levels in the body can be lessened by drinking a glass of tonic water or eating a banana.

A natural health cure for bad breath:

A bowl of fresh parsley served with dessert. Chewing a little parsley often will eliminate the bad breath resulting from eating garlic. If no parsley is readily available, in general , most garlic and onion breaths can be sweetened by eating an apple.

Check your medicine cabinet to see how many little bottles can be thrown away after you has successfully tried these natural health cures. You may be able to reduce your body's toxicity and save money on OTCs and even some prescriptions if you follow my ancestors' advice and try some of these natural health cures.
