Eating one Meal a day

Posted On 2010-04-02 , 3:18 PM

One Meal a day, is Not Okay.

Eating one meal a day is incredibly bad for you and, while skipping dinner (or SKIMPING on dinner) is not an equally horrible sin, it is also bad. In EVERY meal you need to eat a proper ratio of carbs to protein to fat, no matter how much you eat. Eating one meal a day is not the way to lose weight. It will slow your metabolism down; ie, whenever you eat more than one meal a day, you will store fat ferociously.

Eating one meal per day will slow down your metabolism and eat away lean muscle mass. If you lose lean muscle instead of body fat, this will radically slow down your ability to lose weight in the future. Eating only one meal per day is also likely to encourage you eat junk food. By eating small frequent healthy meals and exercising, you will improve your metabolism and create lean muscle mass. Lean muscle in turn, further increases your metabolic rate. Weight loss requires a long-term plan! Weight is nothing but numbers that have other factors and you have to accept.

Not only will your body go into starvation mode, since it will attempt to maintain energy rather than lose it, if it thinks there is no food coming in, but your blood sugar within your body will plummet and then after your one meal per day you will find that it soars, then crashes again. No. This approach may actually cause a weight gain, not a loss. Eating a single meal per day may cause your body to store more fat than it would have otherwise done. The best way to lose weight is to eat healthy and exercise!

Artificial Sweetener

One way to make sure you have a strong, healthy kidney is to avoid items high in artificial sweetener’s, like soda pop. A recent study has found that there is an amplified risk of a declined kidney function among women who drink two or more beverages with artificially sweeteners a day. Two of the most toxic sweeteners are Aspartame and Splenda.

Aspartame, an artificial sweetener, is another common sweetener with a bad reputation. Aspartame has had possible links to cancer, hair loss, depression, dementia, and behavioral disturbances. On the other hand Stevia as a great replacement!

Splenda is a sweetener used in baked goods, gum, frozen desserts, fruit juice, among other items. A few of the side affects of splenda are:
  •  Migraines and Headaches
  • Decrease of red blood cells
  • Vomiting
  • Joint aches
  • Dizziness
  • Anxiety
  • A shortness of breath.

Drinking diet soda can cause a risk of obesity, increase your carbohydrate cravings, weight gain, and stimulate fat storage.

Just because you think you are making a healthy choice by replacing sugar for artificial sweeteners, you’re not. You may become addicted to the artificial sweeteners and may have constant cravings for sweets. Be careful and read the label of any food item before eating it. Man made chemicals is not a wise item for human consumption.

If you want a healthier replacement for artificial sweeteners I suggest you use Stevia, which is best to use in moderation. Unlike aspartame, Stevia is from a natural plant and is a safe, natural alternative, if you’re trying to limit your sugar intake, calorie intake and watch your weight. Throw away all your other sweeteners and get Stevia, as it is a Great sweetener replacement.
